Busting Myths About Clinical Trials

Myth #1: Clinical trials are for patients who have no other options
WRONG

Clinical trials are a viable treatment option for all MS patients, from the moment of the initial diagnosis and allow patients’ access to the most advanced therapies and procedures. There are trials for every subtype of MS, including trials for symptoms’ management. You should always consider whether there might be a better treatment option in clinical trials and discuss it with your doctor.

Myth #2: I will be given a placebo and not the experimental treatment
WRONG
In most of the clinical trials in MS a placebo is rarely given. If it is given, it usually happens for the first year, and thereafter it continues with the study drug.
